Winter - a shock to the system

We gradually got used to the summer heat and found that it wasn't too bad, where we are there always seems to be a breeze on most summer days, but this breeze turns into gale force winds in winter.

The nights often go below freezing and the fire seems to be going non stop.  The ground and grass is often frozen and white with severe frost.


I often felt jealous of our animals, the cold didn't seem to faze them but I was stuck inside because it was too windy and cold to venture out.  When a sunny day arrived that was the time to do the outdoor chores.

August 2014 bought another winter surprise... it snowed and it was just stunning to watch.

 

I just had to get a photo of the girls, it was the whitest they had been in a long time and they all stood there looking at me as if I was crazy.
